The total population of Iceland is 318.452 (1 Jan 2011). The population of the capital region (municipalities Reykjavík, Kópavogur, Seltjarnarnes, Garðabær, Hafnarfjörður, Álftanes and Mosfellsbær) was 202.131 or 63% of the total.
